Ryan Kent hits first-half winner as Steven Gerrard’s Rangers edge past Aberdeen in Scottish Premiership opener

Ryan Kent’s excellent first-half finish ensured Steven Gerrard’s Rangers secured a battling 1-0 win at Aberdeen as the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign got underway on Saturday.

Gerrard named Lille target Alfredo Morelos in his starting XI for the season opener at Pittodrie, with the Colombian striker setting up Kent for the all-important goal during the opening 45 minutes.

The hosts huffed and puffed as they looked for a way back into the match, but it came to no avail.

To compound their misery, Andrew Considine was sent off with four minutes of the contest remaining for a dangerous two-footed lunge on Scott Arfield.
