Blues confirm new ‘arctic blue’ away kit with ‘an injection of millennial swagger’

Chelsea have confirmed their new away kit for the 2020/21 season – and it’s a thing of beauty.

The Blues have changed sponsor and now have a huge three in the middle of the shirt in light of their new partnership with the telecommunications company.

This shirt really stands out and is very different to previous Blues’ away kits.

Chelsea’s home kit has divided opinion but the new ‘cobalt’ away shirt is a thing of beauty

It features in a ‘arctic blue’ tint, which is a relatively pale shade, while the Three logo is in a ‘blackened blue’.

On their official website, the west London club released pictures of the second strip, saying it ‘effortlessly blends an aura of traditional London tailoring with the energy and colours of today’s SW6.’

A statement went into detail about the stylistic elements of the design.

It read: “The Blues’ changed colours celebrate the capital’s love affair with the craftsmanship of master tailors.

“However, the away kit adds an injection of millennial swagger – perfect for the confident, emerging talents lighting up Stamford Bridge under head coach Frank Lampard.”

Mason Mount, who has been one of Chelsea’s most promising emerging young stars this season, said he was a big fan of the kit.

“The colours and pattern of the away work really well,” the 21-year-old told the club’s official website. ‘It looks great and it’s also a nice contrast to the home kit. Hopefully the fans will like it as well and we can push on and make them proud.”

New Premier League kits: Every confirmed and leaked shirt for next season

Chelsea have already worn their new home kit in their last two outings in the Premier League and were ridiculed following the club’s 3-2 defeat at West Ham earlier this week, with rival fans flocking to social media to poke fun at Blues supporters for the ironic amount of goals they conceded in the match.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s rumoured 2020/21 home kit design has now been leaked online and it comes with a funky zigzag pattern across the body of the shirt.

The Gunners’ kit really stands out, with huge arrow shapes emblazoned across the front. Arsenal’s long-time sponsor Emirates is still visible below the badge and adidas’ manufacturer logo.
