Artiste, EL has called on the Ghana Armed Forces to brief Ghanaians on the investigations made on a civilian who died after he was shot by a Soldier during the lockdown.
The Ghana Armed Forces in a statement during the lockdown period said it was investigating an incident that occurred in Ashiaman, Accra on Sunday 5 April 2020. The incident involved an attempt by a civilian to disarm a soldier who was conducting an arrest as part of OP COVID SAFETY.
According to the Armed Forces, the civilian was being arrested on suspicion of indulging in illegal conduct contrary to the Narcotics Act. Initial reports are that the suspect in resisting arrest attempted to disarm the soldier leading to a struggle during which the soldier’s rifle accidentally went off.
The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and while being conveyed to the hospital for medical attention, unfortunately, passed on. The body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra.
However, much has not been heard of what became off the investigation.
Reminding Ghanaians of the need to fight for the life of the civilian who lost his life as the world is fighting for all Black lives, EL in a tweet said “Does anybody know the name of the Unarmed Civilian who got shot by a Soldier at Ashaiman during the Lockdown? Justice to Him”.
