Even before campaigns ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in constituencies with incumbent lawmakers heats up, a plot to set up the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority Michael Okyere Baafi has been uncovered.

Mr. Baafi who has confirmed
he will be contesting the New Juaben South seat on the ticket of the NPP
in the Eastern Region is said to have himself  unmasked the plot which was aimed at
disgracing him and making him unfit for the race.

He declined giving details of who is behind the whole diabolic agenda which was expected to be executed in his office in concert with some staff.

Pushed to point out who the culprits are, he said “my brother, this is politics and we are matured in the game. The important thing is that what was set out to destroy me just because of politics has been uncovered. I serve a living God and will praise him for protecting me all the time”.

Close sources however told
this portal that the agenda was aimed at implicating the young
politician in acts which are in sharp contravention of his official duties as
head of the Free Zones Authority.

“He has been on the alert and that is the reason he was able
to fish out the plot. This has however not discouraged him from pursuing his
dream of becoming the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for New Juaben South constituency”, the source said.

It would be recalled that Michael
Okyere Baafi who narrowly lost to the incumbent MP at the last primaries is
believed to have been very instrumental in the rejuvenation of the ruling NPP
in the entire New Juaben South constituency and its environs through his social
and financial support programs including jobs for NPP members.

Members of the party and some delegates who recently spoke to said they like Michael Okyere Baafi for many reasons.

One of them being that when he has “something”
for delegates, “he doesn’t discriminate based on who is perceived to be for or
against him, Baafi treats everyone with equal respect and value. I think it is
a good thing. Among ourselves we discussed it. When we finish voting for him,
Baafi must not change, it is a good trait he must keep up. If he sent you
people to come and talk to us, tell him not to change.” A delegate said.
