This is the fourth day running that second-year students of the Sefwi Asafo Nursing Training College in the Western Region have been starved for their failure to pay GH¢100 each for the school’s outing dress, MyNewsGh.com reports.

More than forty students in the second-year have been restrained
from eating at the dining hall as the college principal, Sussana Yaa Aframa has
ordered that they should not allowed to have their meals till they pay for the
outing dress, though the students have paid their school fees.
The students say they are unable to part with the said
amount because in their estimation the quality of the fabric used for the
outing dress is “too inferior” to be sold for such an amount.
They also say it was expected that the cost of the outing
dress would be billed on their school fees but they are surprised that the
principal is bent on taking physical cash for it.
The said outing dress is of a grey polyester fabric with
green imprints of the college’s logo.
MyNewsGh.com’s checks on the market established that, the
cost of the fabric together with its screen printed logo would not exceed GH¢20
Some of the tutors who spoke with MyNewsGh.com on condition
of strict anonymity said the principal has turned the school into her private
enterprise and milking the students at the least opportunity.
The decried her autocratic style of leadership and called on
the Ministry of Health to turn its lenses on the college before matters get
worse. The students have been ordered to sign bonds to pay for the outing dress
before they are allowed to eat from the dining hall.

outside the college; some of the females are also depending on the tutors for
Efforts to get Madam Sussana Yaa Aframa to respond to the allegations have been fruitless as she refused to neither pick her phone calls nor respond to text messages.

MyNewsGh.com reporters visited the school and her subordinates disclosed that she was out of jurisdiction and is the only person allowed to speak to the matter in view of its dicey nature.
