Paradise Pac Mineral Water, sponsors of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, is warning against ambush marketing ahead of the side’s CAF Confederation Cup tie against Zesco United on Wednesday.
The fast emerging mineral water company owned by Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, has vowed to deal with any competitor which takes advantage to sell at the Baba Yara stadium.
Paradise Pac has warned rival companies against the adoption of ambush marketing strategies in their quest to profit from the hugely anticipated clash in Kumasi.
Asamoah Gyan’s manager Samuel Anim Addo has laid down the marker.
“We are sending a message of caution or warning to any other water producing company in the country that they should not come to Baba Yara to sell water, he told GHANAsoccernet.com
“The place is for Paradise Pac. Lets Paradise Pac benefit from our investments. We think all sponsors of clubs should benefit when they associate with any brand.
So that it can tickle down to other clubs. If we ant football to grow, its time we attract corporate sponsorship to the level where we need to.
“I am using our sponsorship with Kotoko to send this message. All club administrators should rally behind Kotoko and help them to win. Apart from winning, we should also help them to maximise.
“As we normalise football, we can bring it back with the right structures and right form. Football can bring a lot of social developments to our country.
Paradise Pac signed a two-deal with the Porcupine Warriors late last year and are keen to have a return on investment.
Kotoko will be seeking their first win in the group stage after losing 1-0 at Sudanese side Al Hilal last week.
Ambush marketing is a prohibited marketing activities which try to take advantage of the huge interest and high profile of an event by creating a commercial association and/or seeking promotional exposure without an authorisation.
