First ever National Schools Badminton Championship fixed for December 7

Accra, Nov 12, GNA – The Badminton
Association of Ghana (BAG) will organise a National Schools Badminton
Championship from December 7 – December 9 at the Tema International School.

It would be the first time 44 years,
the Association is embarking on such an activity aimed at promoting the sport
in schools.

Accra, Nov 12, GNA – The Badminton
Association of Ghana (BAG) will organise a National Schools Badminton
Championship from December 7 – December 9 at the Tema International School.

It would be the first time 44 years,
the Association is embarking on such an activity aimed at promoting the sport
in schools.

The competition, would see at least 40
schools compete in several age categories, including 11-13 years, 13-15 years,
15-17 years and 17 -19 year groups.

Mr. Evans Yeboah, President of BAG,
said in an interview that, preparations were far advanced for the upcoming
championship with participating schools having undergone a technical training
dubbed “Shuttle Time” to enhance quality of play. 

“We have the participants of the
National Schools Championship drawn from all the regions in collaboration with
our Regional Associations and the Ghana Education service and the International
Schools Associations and Private Schools Associations,” Mr Yeboah said.

“We have secured some sponsorship in
kind, most of which is coming from donations of computers which will be given to
the schools.

“Some members are supporting in
the catering services and some members are also supporting in accommodations,
and so we are ready.”

Participants who would make it to the
podium stage (medal level) would represent Ghana at the Africa edition of the
Schools Championship.
